Abstract. Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to rise in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Lack of public knowledge about diabetes prevention and management is a major risk factor. This community service aims to improve the health cadres' knowledge of diabetes mellitus in Pemangkih Baru Village through education and training. The methods used were interactive counseling and small group discussions involving 13 village health cadres. The materials covered the introduction of symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and simple management of diabetes mellitus. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in the cadres' knowledge. Most participants showed knowledge that either remained the same or increased. In addition, the cadres became more confident in delivering information to the community and became active partners in promotive and preventive efforts. In conclusion, this training was effective in enhancing the knowledge and skills of village health cadres, and it is expected to help reduce the incidence of diabetes by increasing cadres' active role at the community level.
