Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the implementation of the principle of the best interests of the child in the legal protection of children in cyberspace under the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child. This principle constitutes a fundamental principle of international law, emphasizing that every action concerning children, whether undertaken by the state, public bodies, or other institutions, must prioritize the best interests of the child. This study employs a normative legal approach by examining international legal instruments, particularly the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as national laws and regulations concerning the protection of children in cyberspace. The study focuses on two main issues: first, the regulation of the principle of the best interests of the child under the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child as the legal basis for protecting children in cyberspace; and second, the implementation of this principle in Indonesia’s national policies and legal framework. The findings indicate that the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child provides a comprehensive legal framework for the fulfillment of children’s rights, including protection against the risks of digital exploitation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen national legal regulations and consistently integrate the principle of the best interests of the child into all legal frameworks concerning child protection in cyberspace in order to ensure harmonization with international standards and to effectively address the increasingly complex and evolving threats in the digital environment.
